Governor chairs meeting of Sainik Welfare Board

Ranchi: Governor CP Radhakrishna chaired a meeting of the Managing Committee of the Sainik Welfare Board at Raj Bhawan. On the said occasion the Governor expressed his surprise and sorrow over the non-constitution of the Managing Committee since August 2020. He directed that there should be a meeting of the Managing Committee of the Sainik Welfare Board every six months.

In the meeting, the Governor discussed various subjects being done by the Sainik Welfare Board for the welfare of the soldiers. The Governor described ex-servicemen as equal to God and said that efforts should be made to ensure that their dependents do not face any kind of difficulty.

The Governor said that a detailed database should be prepared to provide all kinds of facilities to the ex-servicemen, in which the important needs of their families should also be mentioned. It was said in the meeting that the annual grant amount will be made available for the Sainik Welfare Board every year by the state government. Along with this, it was also said in the meeting that the state government will review the issue of horizontal reservation in state government jobs to the dependents of ex-servicemen. 

It was also said on the above occasion that the services of a consultant would be obtained for the beautification and development of the Sainik Market complex located on Mahatma Gandhi Marg. Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor Nitin Kulkarni, Principal Secretary, Finance Department Ajay Singh, Principal Secretary, Home Department Vandana Dadel and officials of Sainik Welfare Board were present in the meeting.
