JMM MLAs protest outside assembly demanding ST status for Kurmis: AJSU terms drama

Ranchi: The MLAs of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on Monday staged a demonstration outside the assembly demanding ST status for the Kurmis. JMM MLAs Jaggarnath Mahto Jai Prakash Bhai Patel and Babita Kumari sat on dharna outside the assembly carrying ply cards demanding ST status for the community.

However, the AJSU party has hit back on the acts of the JMM legislators and described their actions as a drama which was enacted outside the Vidhan Sabha demanding ST status for the community.

Central secretary of the party Anil Mahto said that few days ago AJSU MLA Ramchandra Sahis had raised the issue in the Vidhan Sabha demanding the ST status for the community he was later also called by the speaker to raise the matter however when the MLA was raising the issue leader of the opposition Hemant Soren said that he should be made into a Brahmin and the MLA should be converted into tribal.

Mr Mahto asked the MLAs of the JMM to rather protest outside the residence of their leader rather than in the assembly over the issue.
