Fodder Scam: HC to hear Lalu's bail petition on Friday

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court will take up the hearing on the bail petition of jailed former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in connection with the Doranxa treasury case of the fodder scam on Friday.

His lawyer Devarshi Mandal on Wednesday said that he had requested the court to take up the hearing on the bail petition as soon as possible on special grounds. He said that the old age and different ailments plaguing the leader and 'half sentencing have been cited as the grounds for bail.

He said that the High Court has accepted the petition and has set March 4 as the date for hearing in the case.

A special CBI Court had awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh on Lalu Yadav after he was convicted in the Doranda Treasury Case of the Fodder Scam.

Currently, Lalu Yadav has been kept in paying ward of RIMS where he is undergoing treatment for his different health problems.
