Government will give Rs 100 per animal per day for the feeding in Gaushalas: Agri Min Badal

Ranchi: Taking a big decision in the matter of care and protection of the animals of the state, the government has decided to give Rsb100 per animal per day for feeding the animals in the state’s Gaushalas.

Earlier this amount was given at Rs 50 per animal per day only for six months. The state government has increased this amount to Rs 100 for a year said Agriculture Minister Badal in the meeting of State Animal Welfare Board held at Nepal House. He said that the Gaushalas of the State would be further strengthened. Badal said that the State Government is sensitive towards the animals. It is the responsibility of the government to take care and protect them he said adding that state Animal Welfare Board has been constituted for this purpose. He said that animals cannot keep their demands, they depend on our sensitivity therefore all their problems are resolved through the State Animal Welfare Board.

He said that if the Board works more actively and effectively, then its usefulness will come to the fore. Out of 21 registered Gaushalas in the state, it has been decided to provide rescue vehicles to 10 Gaushalas so that the unclaimed animals can be easily rescued. Animals that die due to road accidents or those lying in sick condition on the road can be easily rescued. Badal said that those who want to get the registration of Gaushala in the state can also be done easily now.

A team will go to Chhattisgarh to see the method of preparing vermicompost from cow dung and there it will observe how vermicompost is prepared from cow dung so that in Jharkhand also vermicompost can be prepared in the same way and made available in the market. He said that it has been decided to hold the next meeting of the State Animal Welfare Board in the month of January so that provision of funds can be made in it in the upcoming budget. In the meeting, the Minister Badal said that it has been decided to fill the vacant posts in the State Animal Welfare Board on deputation or contract so that the work of the Board can be done smoothly. 

He said that the representative of the local MLA and MP has also been included as a special invitee in the District Animal Cruelty Prevention Committee formed at the district level so that they can also give their important suggestions to the committee. He directed that district wise training of cattle rearers should be ensured and they should be further trained by organizing state level workshops. Badal said that while going to Latehar, a group of monkeys is seen on the way. Sometimes a group of these monkeys come on the road and get injured or even die after being hit by a vehicle. Keeping their safety in mind, a proposal was sought by the Forest Department so that 8 to 10 points should be made by putting a lattice on the side of the road in that area so that the monkeys are also safe. He said that by identifying more such areas in the state, the government would protect them.

Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Shri L Khiyangate, Agriculture Secretary Abubakar Siddique and members of the Board were present in the meeting.
