Redmesivir was stolen from RIMS too says SIT before High Court

Ranchi: A special investigation team which is probing the black marketing of Redmesivir injections in the state informed the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday that the life saving injection was stolen from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences.

ADG Anil Palta who is leading the SIT informer the court that six vials of the injections was stolen from RIMS and were provided to the main culprit Rajeev Singh. In this connection, report has been also sought from RIMS and after the report, the probe will be taken forward.

After hearing the report the bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S N Prasad asked the SIT to submit the detailed report in the next hearing.

During the proceedings, the court was informed by the SIT that while probing the call details of the main accused Rajeev Singh it emerged that he had been regularly speaking with one Santosh Kumar. In due course of investigation, it emerged that Santosh was a close aide of a woman working as a contractual employee in RIMS. The woman had stolen the vials of the injections and had given them to Santosh who later passed it on to Rajeev Singh.

After media reports carried stories of Redmesivir being black marketed in the state during the peak of the Coronavirus crisis during the second wave of a pandemic the High Court had taken suo motto cognisance and had asked response from the state government.

The state government had later formed the SIT headed by ADG Anil Palta over the issue.
