Mob lynching in capital: Three policemen suspended, City SP to conduct probe

Ranchi: Three policemen including a Sub Inspector and two Assistant Sub Inspectors have been suspended by Ranchi SSP Surendra Kumar Jha over the mob lynching in capital and has handed over the probe of the case to Ranchi City SP.

Sub Inspector Vaibhav Singh of Kotwali Police Station and Assistant Sub Inspectors of Kotwali Police Station Vijay Shankar Singh and Vishram Tigga have been suspended on the grounds of being negligent in work.

A 22 year old youth Sachin Kumar Verma was beaten to death over suspicion of being involved in theft of a mini truck in Neel Ratan Street of Upper Bazaar by a group of 40-50 men. Apart from being beaten he was also hit with iron rods. Somehow police got to know about the incident and rescued the youth from the spot and first brought him to Kotwali Police Station on Monday from where he was later admitted to Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.

Due to the sensitive nature of the incident a medical board performed the postmortem of the deceased and entire process was videographed. On the complaint of the mother of the deceased an fir against 40 men was registered.

So far four men have been arrested by the police while raids were on to nab the others.
