Cabinet decides to waive off farm loans of 9 lakh farmers worth up to Rs 50,000

Ranchi: The state cabinet on Wednesday decided to waive off loans of nine lakh farmers worth upto Rs 50,000.

A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Project Building here.

A total of 63 proposals were passed in the cabinet meeting. For the loan wavier off the farmers a sum of Rs 2,000 crore has been sanctioned by the state government.

Briefing the press Cabinet Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh that out of 12.93 lakh farmers who had taken loans wavier would cover 9.07 lakh farmers as the remaining accounts have either become NPA or are non existent. Overall loan wavier worth Rs 5,800 will be made and it will cover such farmers who have taken loans till March 2020.

It was also decided the first NIA Police Station in Jharkhand will be set up at Dhurwa where complaints from all the districts will be registered.

The cabinet also decided that four special courts will be set for hearing criminal cases registered against the MPs and MLAs and these courts will be set up in Hazaribagh, Daltonganj, Dumka and Chaibasa.
