PIL filed against Lalu Yadav in Jharkhand High Court

Ranchi: A PIL has been on Thursday in the Jharkhand High Court against jailed RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav after he allegedly made phone calls to some MLAs in Bihar and tried to lure them into the UPA folder.

BJP leader Anuranjan Ashok through his lawyer Rajeev Kumar has filed the PIL in which he has claimed that acts of Lalu Prasad Yadav were a violation of the jail manual. In his petition, he has claimed that Lalu Yadav was making phone calls to MLAs to create trouble for Nitish Kumar Government in Bihar.

Lawyer  Rajeev Kumar pointed that on previous occasions also the High Court had taken cognizance of instances where RIMS Cottages were turned into enjoyment places for high-profile convicts. He pointed out that the court had maintained that if a convict is suffering from multiple diseases then his treatment arrangements can be made inside the jail itself for treatment.

On the other hand, a hearing is scheduled on Friday on a bail petition which has been filed by Lalu Prasad Yadav in a case related to Fodder Scam. If the court fails to grant him bail on Friday it is likely that the RIMS administration will shift him back to the paying ward.

Currently, Mr Yadav is staying at Kelly Bungalow which is the official residence of the RIMS Director. Dr Kameshwar Prasad has been recently appointed as RIMS Director but currently, he is staying in the state guest house.
