RMC launches mega encroachment drive in capital

Ranchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation on Monday launched a mega anti-encroachment drive in the capital for which the district administration had also provided magistrates and police personnel.

The enforcement team of the RMC started its drive from Kutchury chowk during which action was taken against shop keepers who had encroached on roads and vehicles which were parked in no parking areas were seized, further goods of the shop keepers which was kept on roads was also taken away.

In the afternoon the drive was conducted from main road to Sujata chowk while another team conducted the drive till over the bridge. The teams also removed the boards which had been put up at government property while fines were also imposed on violations.

Town Commissioner Mukesh Kumar said people like doctors, tutors, hotel owners, restaurant owners put up their board in the roadside or on electric pole to share details of their locations and these types of signage spoil the beauty of the city. He said that RMC allows to erect hoardings but such types of boards are not allowed and action would be taken against such people who would erect such types of boards.

During the drive boards of such shops was removed which was located away from the original location. The enforcement team said that boards put a distance of only 75 metres is allowed and moreover it should also not consist of advertisement of any company. The drive in the city would continue till September 6.
