Hemant launches 'Mukhyamantri Shramik Yojana', 31 pc families below poverty line to benefit

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched the ambitious Mukhyamantri Shramik Yojana which will benefit more than 31 percent of people living below the poverty line in urban areas.

Speaking on the occasion he said that more than 5 lakh families would be benefited by the scheme. He said that under this scheme after registration within 15 days employment has to be provided and in case he or she is not able to get the work then they would be provided with an unemployment allowance.

He said that amid the Coronavirus crisis there was a lack of jobs especially for the daily wage earners therefore the government has launched the scheme. He said that to a large extent the issue of jobs under rural areas has been addressed and has been successful in generating crores of man-days and this particular scheme has been prepared for urban areas.

The Chief Minister said that before the lockdown no one was aware of how much people were working in other states of the country. He said that nearly 10 lakh people were working in other states. The Chief Minister said that Jharkhand was the first state to airlift and use trains to bring its migrant workers. He said that the state government sent more than Rs 25 crore in the accounts of the migrant workers through DBT so that they could meet some of their needs. He said that despite the crisis he was satisfied to note than no one had died due to hunger in the state.

Hemant said that Didi Kitchen which was started during lockdown provided food to thousands of needy and mostly the children from the villages were benefitted as their health rapidly improved and they also gained weight. He said that poverty and malnutrition are bane before the state but the government was working to make the children malnutrition free.

The Chief Minister expressed delight as during the day the Governor had launched the new logo of the state which will give a new identity to Jharkhand while on the other hand the scheme has been launched for workers.

He said that in the battle against Coronavirus the state government was scaling new heights every day and pointed that tests are taking place in every district and every day more than 10,000 tests were happening due to which patients are being identified and soon the state would come out the crisis.

On the occasion, as a symbolic gesture, five workers were given job cards while in 51 municipal bodies also the job cards were distributed. The workers can register on msy.jharkhand.gov.in.

Those present on the occasion included Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajeev Arun Ekka and Secretaries of Urban Development and Drinking Water and Sanitation Departments.
