CM directs to include more than 9 lakh farmers with PM-Kissan Yojana

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed to include more than 9 lakh farmers of the state with the PM-Kissan Kissan Yojana.

Reviewing the launch a new scheme for paddy procurement he said that currently 23 lakh farmers of the state are registered with PM Kissan Yojana while applications of more than 9 lakh farmers was pending and if these farmers would be also included than the overall numbers would increase to 32 lakh.

He directed the officials to commence the process of recruitment as soon as possible and said that every small and medium farmer should be included in the scheme so that by August 15 all the left over farmers can also get the monetary assistance in their bank accounts. He said that in wake of Coronavirus pandemic focus should be to include small and medium size farmers and migrant workers.

He also instructed the officials to prepare a data district wise over the number of farmers who have come back and said that such migrant workers who have agricultural land they should be registered on the portal of PM Kissan Yojana and even steps should be taken to identify more left over farmers.

The Chief Minister said that the number of farmers was not increasing in the state rather they are turning into farm labourers moreover the vagaries of the weather has created permanent trouble for the small and medium size farmers. He said that farmers are also migrating therefore steps should be taken to change the situation.

Those present in the meeting included Agriculture Minister Badal,  Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajeev Arun Ekka, Agriculture secretary Abu Bakar Siddiqui and others.
