Five more deaths reported, taking COVID toll to 54

Ranchi (IANS): Five deaths have been reported in Jharkhand on Monday taking the total number to death toll to 54 in the state.  

Four deaths have been reported in steel city Jamshedpur and one at Garwah district.  In Jamshedpur, three women and one man died and in Garwah one 50 year old woman died. IN steel city alone 11 deaths have been reported till now. 

Of the 54 death, 23 belonged to age between 61 and 80. And 14 people belonging to age between 50 and 60 died. In the last 24 hours  more than 210 people have been found Coronavirus positive taking the total number over 5600 in the state. 

As per the data provided by the health department, the number of active cases in the state are  2,815. Ranchi, Hazaribagh are emerging at big centre of new COVID 19 cases. In the state capital Ranchi alone 50 to 90 cases are reported every day.  The COVID dedicated hospital beds are full and the district administration gearing to set up more COVID 19 dedicated hospitals.

The samples are being currently tested in the state at government facilities including  MGM Jamshedpur, RIMS Ranchi, PMCH Dhanbad and Itki Arogyashala Ranchi while samples are also being tested in different private labs in the state.

Jharkhand had reported its first Coronavirus case on March 31 as a Malaysian woman had tested positive for Covid-19.

It took 67 days to reach the 1,000 mark as far as overall Covid-19 patients are concerned in Jharkhand however the spread of infection has now reached to such alarming proportions that with the number of cases crossing the 5,000 mark 50 percent of them have been recorded in the month of July itself. The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has plummeted further to 48.95 percent in the state.

So far in the state 2,30,429 samples have been collected out of which 2,15,661 have been tested. The data further pointed that number of travellers under surveillance and asymptomatic are at 5,595 while people those who have completed 28 days of compulsory observation stood at 4,306. The number of people in facility quarantine was at 7,869 while those in home quarantine are  2,72,932.
