Mumbai — Actress Kavita Kaushik has addressed the common perception that female officers are often sidelined in cop-based shows, saying she has never personally experienced such treatment in her career.
Best known for her role as Chandramukhi Chautala in FIR, Kavita played a strong, authoritative female cop at the center of the story—something she believes reflects her approach to acting.
Speaking about the issue, she emphasized that she focuses on performance rather than screen presence. According to her, it’s not about how much time an actor gets on screen, but how effectively they use it to leave an impression.
Kavita’s portrayal in FIR stood out for its bold and commanding character, who led a team largely made up of male officers. The show, which aired from 2006 to 2015, also featured actors like Aamir Ali, Kiku Sharda, Gopi Bhalla, and Sandeep Anand.
Beyond FIR, she has appeared in popular television shows such as Kutumb and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, along with reality shows like Bigg Boss.
On the personal front, Kavita is married to Ronnit Biswas, and the couple has shifted from Mumbai to Goa.
Looking ahead, she will be seen in the upcoming OTT series Kaptaan, alongside Saqib Saleem and Abhishek Nigam.
Reiterating her stance, Kavita made it clear that for her, meaningful performance and impact outweigh the need for more screen time.
