Harshita Gaur Shares Heartwarming Birthday Surprise by Ali Fazal on ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ Sets

Mumbai: Actress Harshita Gaur, who is preparing for the release of her upcoming film ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, recently opened up about her experience working on the project. She revealed that she celebrated her birthday on the film’s set, where co-actor Ali Fazal made the day special by arranging a cook to prepare a meal for the entire production team.

The much-loved series, which has achieved cult status among viewers, is now set to make its transition to the big screen with ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’. The film reunites its iconic characters in a grand cinematic format, aiming to expand the intense and gritty world of Mirzapur while preserving the essence that made the series hugely popular.

Reflecting on her journey, Harshita said, “Mirzapur has been a remarkable journey for me, both professionally and personally. Dimpy entered my life at a crucial stage of my career, and I feel like I have grown along with her. Over time, I have come to understand her silence, resilience, and emotional struggles much more deeply. I am truly thankful to this character for challenging me and allowing me to portray her story.”

She also shared that the film was shot in Mirzapur for the first time, which made the experience even more authentic and emotionally meaningful. “Shooting in the actual locations and streets of Mirzapur added a unique emotional dimension to the project. One of my most memorable moments was celebrating my birthday on set,” she said.

Recalling the celebration, Harshita added, “Ali Fazal very thoughtfully arranged for a khansama to cook for the entire team. During the celebration, I accidentally ate mutton galouti kebabs thinking they were mushroom galoutis, which still makes all of us laugh. These small moments made the entire journey even more special.”

Along with Harshita Gaur, the film features several returning cast members who helped define the series’ legacy, including Ali Fazal, Abhishek Banerjee, Divyendu, Sheeba Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, Jitendra Kumar, and Rajesh Tailang.

‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is scheduled to hit theatres on September 4, 2026.
