Varun Dhawan Recalls Severe Tailbone Injury During ‘Border 2’ Shoot

Mumbai- Actor Varun Dhawan has spoken about the most serious injury of his career, revealing that he suffered a painful tailbone injury while shooting for his upcoming film Border 2, which left him struggling to walk.

Taking to Instagram, Varun shared a behind-the-scenes video from an intense action sequence. The clip shows him being pushed into a wall during a fight scene, where he hit it forcefully and sustained the injury.

Describing the incident as the worst pain he has ever experienced, the actor admitted that it took a heavy physical toll on him. “The worst injury I ever got on Border 2. I smashed my tailbone into a rock when I tried to avoid banging into the camera. It was the worst pain I ever felt,” he wrote in the caption.

Despite the injury, Varun, who portrays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the film, continued shooting with the support of his team. Expressing gratitude, he added that although he could barely walk, he pushed through the day with their help and remained thankful for the experience.

Border 2 is inspired by real events from the 1971 war. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh.

The original Border, released in 1997, was a major blockbuster starring Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, and others, along with Tabu, Pooja Bhatt, Rakhee Gulzar, and Sharbani Mukherjee.

Varun will next be seen in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which also stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. The film is scheduled for release on June 5, after being postponed from its earlier April 10, 2026 date. The title is inspired by the popular song Hai Jawani Toh Pyaar Hona Hai from David Dhawan’s Biwi No. 1 and is said to be a lighthearted romantic drama with a unique narrative twist.
