Mumbai: Hollywood star Margot Robbie has praised her Wuthering Heights co-star Jacob Elordi, saying she believes he would make a “very good boyfriend” after witnessing his thoughtful gestures on set.
The duo star as Heathcliff and Cathy in the upcoming film loosely inspired by Emily Brontë’s 1847 classic. Robbie, 35, recalled being pleasantly surprised when the 28-year-old actor decorated her dressing room with roses on Valentine’s Day, describing the gesture as both meaningful and creative, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
While interviewing each other for Vogue Australia, Robbie said she was struck by the effort Elordi put into the surprise. “I remember thinking on Valentine’s Day, he’s probably a very good boyfriend, because there was so much thoughtfulness in it,” she said. “It wasn’t just the roses—it was the note written from Heathcliff and that little tombstone detail. I loved that. It was crafty, dramatic and really meaningful.”
Elordi revealed that he went out of his way to visit the set that day just to carry out the gesture, even though he wasn’t scheduled to film. “It was dramatic,” he said. “I had to check if you were shooting, because I wasn’t working that day.”
A surprised Robbie responded in disbelief, calling him “absolutely devastating.”
Both actors also joked about how much they missed filming scenes when the other wasn’t around. Elordi admitted he didn’t enjoy shooting without Robbie on set, a sentiment she wholeheartedly returned.
Last year, Robbie also defended Elordi’s casting as Heathcliff amid criticism, backing director Emerald Fennell’s choice. Speaking to British Vogue, she said audiences should reserve judgment until they see the film. “I saw him play Heathcliff—and he is Heathcliff,” she said. “Just wait. Trust me, you’ll be happy.”
