Rashami Desai Deletes Instagram Post on Amit Shah and Mamata Banerjee, Says She Had No Intention to Offend

Mumbai — Television actress Rashami Desai has taken down an AI-generated post featuring Union Home Minister Amit Shah and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from her Instagram account after concerns were raised over its content.

The actress informed her followers that she had received a message objecting to the images, which allegedly portrayed senior political leaders in an inappropriate and misleading manner. Acknowledging the concern, Rashami said she promptly deleted the post.

She also shared a screenshot of the email she received, which stated that the images involving Amit Shah and Mamata Banerjee were “obscene, defamatory, and misleading.” The communication warned that circulating such content could have serious legal consequences under Indian law, even if intended as satire or humour, and urged her to remove the post to avoid legal and regulatory action.

Responding to the issue, Rashami clarified that she never intended to hurt anyone’s feelings or sentiments. She emphasised that her actions were not meant to offend and reiterated her respect for public figures.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the actress wrote that she was “extremely happy to see the youth being so active on Instagram,” adding that she had deleted the AI-generated story and had no intention of causing hurt. She further encouraged young people to continue speaking up for the right causes at the right time.

Rashami Desai began her Hindi television career with Raavan in 2006 and later appeared in Pari Hoon Main. She rose to prominence with Uttaran and went on to participate in several reality shows, including Zara Nachke Dikha 2, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6, Nach Baliye 7, and Bigg Boss 13.
