Mumbai- Actress Sobhita Dhulipala, who will soon be seen portraying Sandhya in the upcoming crime suspense drama Cheekatilo, has described the role as a deeply fulfilling and enriching experience.
Calling her time playing Sandhya “superb,” Sobhita spoke about the essence of her character, describing her as a strong-willed and independent young woman. “She’s a front-footed individual who thinks independently and is deeply committed to standing by her belief system, no matter the resistance. Her decisions stem from a distinctive stubbornness that carries its own history,” the actress said in a statement.
Sobhita noted that embodying a character rooted in the by-lanes of Hyderabad and other Telugu-speaking localities felt particularly natural, given her own cultural background. This, she said, made the transition into the character seamless and thoroughly enjoyable.
Expressing gratitude for the experience, she added, “I’m thankful for this wonderful journey and for our exceptional cast and crew—everyone brought their heart to the set every single day. Being part of a Prime Original project is special in so many ways.”
Reflecting on her OTT journey, Sobhita described her progression from Made in Heaven to Cheekatilo as both intentional and inspiring. “From Made in Heaven to Cheekatilo, it has been an inspiring journey marked by shared growth, a commitment to engaging storytelling, and a constant desire to push boundaries. I look forward to audiences seeing a different side of me as Sandhya when the film premieres exclusively on Prime Video on January 23,” she said.
Set in Hyderabad, Cheekatilo follows the story of Sandhya, a true-crime podcaster who uncovers some of the city’s darkest and most brutal secrets while pursuing the truth.
The series also stars Viswadev Rachakonda in a lead role, along with Chaitanya Visalakshmi, Esha Chawla, Jhansi, Aamani, and Vadlamani Srinivas in pivotal roles. Directed by Sharan Kopishetty and produced by D. Suresh Babu under Suresh Productions Pvt. Ltd., the edge-of-the-seat thriller is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on January 23.
