Shahid Kapoor Unveils Gritty, Bloodied Look in ‘O’Romeo’ Poster

Mumbai: The poster of the upcoming film ‘O’Romeo’ was unveiled on Friday, offering the first glimpse of Shahid Kapoor as Romeo in a strikingly intense avatar.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, the film promises a distinctive cinematic experience. Shahid’s raw, blood-smeared and fierce look in the first reveal hints at a character that is both menacing and eccentric, suggesting a narrative filled with depth, drama, and passion.

The film also stars Triptii Dimri and veteran actor Nana Patekar, and is slated for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026, coinciding with Valentine’s Week. O’Romeo marks yet another collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, reuniting the actor-director duo once again.

This project is their fourth collaboration following Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon. Their association began with Kaminey, where Shahid impressed audiences and critics alike by portraying twin brothers with contrasting personalities—one timid and stammering, the other aggressive and fearless. The film’s dark humour, gritty realism, and layered storytelling highlighted Vishal Bhardwaj’s directorial vision and Shahid’s versatile acting range.

The duo reunited in 2014 with Haider, a Shakespearean adaptation of Hamlet set against the backdrop of conflict in Kashmir. Shahid delivered one of the most powerful performances of his career, portraying a deeply conflicted young man grappling with love, betrayal, revenge, and political turmoil. The film earned widespread critical acclaim for its poetic symbolism and emotional intensity.

Their collaborations have consistently stood out for exploring complex characters, moral ambiguity, grief, and psychological conflict. Vishal Bhardwaj’s dark, nuanced narratives have complemented Shahid Kapoor’s ability to bring vulnerability and intensity to challenging roles, together pushing mainstream Hindi cinema into darker, more introspective territory without sacrificing entertainment value.

Produced under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, O’Romeo is set to hit cinemas on February 13, 2026.
