Tara Sutaria Unveils a Bold New Avatar as Rebecca in ‘Toxic’

Mumbai — The anticipation around Yash’s upcoming period action drama Toxic continues to intensify with each new update from the makers. Adding to the growing excitement, the team has now revealed actress Tara Sutaria’s striking first look as Rebecca, marking a dramatic departure from her earlier on-screen persona.

Sharing the poster on social media, Yash introduced the character with the caption: “Introducing Tara Sutaria as REBECCA in – A Toxic Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups.”

The first-look poster presents Tara in a visually arresting and dangerous avatar. Dressed in a sleek black off-shoulder outfit, complemented by long black gloves and short hair, she exudes a strong retro aesthetic. Holding a gun and staring intensely ahead, the actress appears fierce, confident, and commanding, signaling a powerful role in the action-packed narrative.

Director Geetu Mohandas, speaking about casting Tara as Rebecca, said she felt an instinctive urge to protect the actress. “Perhaps it’s because she is a guarded soul, or maybe it’s the armour she feels comfortable wearing. And perhaps it doesn’t need to be defined,” she explained.

Recalling her experience of working with Tara, Mohandas revealed that she quickly realised the best approach was to give the actress space rather than push or demand. “Allowing her the freedom to simply be shaped our equation. It became calm, deeply professional, and perfectly aligned,” she said.

Reflecting further, the filmmaker noted that Tara was observant and reserved during the process. “She observed more than she spoke and listened more than she revealed. At times, I wondered if I should guide her more closely. But within that silence, something powerful was taking shape. When she finally stepped into her performance, what emerged was nothing short of breathtaking—rooted in an inner understanding she carried all along,” Mohandas added.

Admitting that Tara surprised her in the most beautiful way, the director concluded, “I have no doubt she will surprise everyone else too.”

Earlier, the makers of Toxic had unveiled the compelling first looks of other leading actresses, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, and Huma Qureshi. The film is scheduled for release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with Eid, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa.
