Mumbai — Actress Aaditi Pohankar, who is set to appear in the upcoming streaming series “Ziddi Ishq”, has shared insights into how she maintains her mental and emotional balance while portraying emotionally demanding roles.
The series delves into the dual nature of love — how it can heal or destroy, how obsession can transform into vengeance, and how grief can evolve into strength. It’s a story where every emotion cuts deeper than the last, and every decision comes with consequences.
Speaking about her process, Aaditi explained, “As an actor, when I’m performing, I keep reminding myself — it’s not you, it’s another life, so just observe it. It’s an attachment with detachment. Because when you finally let go of a character you’ve built from scratch, it feels like giving away your own child.”
“Ziddi Ishq” also stars Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Sumeet Vyaas, Barkha Bisht, and Riya Sen. Set against the evocative backdrop of Bengal, it follows Mehul, a young woman whose one-sided love for Shekhar Da spirals into chaos after his mysterious death — initially ruled a suicide — propels her on a relentless quest for truth and revenge.
Reflecting on the emotional demands of her role, Aaditi said, “You have to understand from the beginning that you can’t get too emotionally involved, even while expressing deep emotions. Playing Mehul was a journey — from joy and innocence to pain and loss. It definitely takes a toll on your emotional well-being, but you must learn to snap out of it.”
She added, “We shot in Kolkata, and returning to Mumbai afterward really helped me detach and find my balance again.”
“Ziddi Ishq” is scheduled to premiere on November 21 on JioHotstar.
