Kim Kardashian Says ‘Not a Lawyer Yet’ After Revealing Bar Exam Results

Los Angeles — Reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian has revealed that she’s “not a lawyer yet,” after sharing the outcome of her latest California Bar Exam attempt.

Months after sitting for the exam on July 29 and 30, the SKIMS founder took to Instagram to share that although she did not pass, she remains committed to achieving her dream of becoming a lawyer.

“Well... I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV (sic),” Kim wrote in her post.

Reflecting on her years-long journey, she added, “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination.”

She went on to thank her supporters, writing, “Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far. Falling short isn’t failure — it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivated me even more. Let’s go!”

Kim began her legal studies in 2018, opting for a law apprenticeship with a San Francisco-based firm — an alternative route allowed in California and three other U.S. states, bypassing traditional law school.

In 2021, she announced that she had passed the “baby bar” exam (the First-Year Law Student’s Examination) after four attempts. At the time, she celebrated the milestone on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “OMFGGGG I PASSED THE BABY BAR EXAM!!!!”

Expressing her pride and perseverance, she added, “Looking in the mirror, I’m really proud of the woman looking back today. For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, know this wasn’t easy or handed to me. I was told by top lawyers that this was nearly impossible and harder than the traditional law school route, but it was my only option — and it feels so, so good to be here, on my way to achieving my goals.”
