Mumbai: Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming streaming series Do You Wanna Partner, has opened up about what drew her to the project and how it portrays women entrepreneurs differently.
Speaking to IANS, Tamannaah explained that the show stands out because it focuses on the journey of women rising to power, rather than depicting them as already established figures.
“When I first read the script, I hadn’t come across an entrepreneurial dramedy told in such a fictionalised way. Both protagonists are women, and that combination hasn’t been explored yet. I loved the sitcom-like energy and the uniqueness of the characters,” she said.
Drawing a comparison, Tamannaah mentioned her fondness for Ally McBeal, saying: “That show had a law firm backdrop, and you experienced the world of lawyers through its characters. This show gives a similar vibe, where you’re pulled into the world of these entrepreneurs through their stories.”
She clarified that Ally McBeal wasn’t a direct influence but admired how certain characters become instantly likeable because they represent a strong section of society.
“What I loved most is that this show highlights how women become powerful. Usually, powerful women are shown as if they’ve already reached the top, dressed in business suits, running companies. But here, the focus is on the process—how they climb the ladder, make choices, and build themselves,” Tamannaah added.
