Mumbai (IANS) – Iranian-German actress and singer Elnaaz Norouzi has opened up about stepping outside her comfort zone for her latest single, My Stupid Heart.
The project, she revealed, challenged her in unexpected ways, allowing her to tap into a more vulnerable and experimental side. According to Elnaaz, the experience was transformative, contributing to her growth both creatively and personally.
Speaking about the track, Norouzi said, "My Stupid Heart really pushed me beyond my limits. I had to be fully present and feel every beat of it." The song took nearly two years to perfect, as she searched for the ideal sound that would capture its emotional core. The track was crafted in collaboration with music heavyweights Josh Alexander, Jason Evigan, and Billy Steinberg—renowned for their work with artists like Demi Lovato, JoJo, and Maroon 5. It blends early 2000s pop influences with a smoky, jazz-infused vibe reminiscent of Rihanna.
Balancing careers in both acting and music, Elnaaz finds solace in the creative process behind the scenes. “The studio is a different world for me. I can just be myself—no makeup, no glam—just in my pajamas, working on my music.” The music video reflects that same raw simplicity. “This song is about heartbreak, and I wanted the video to feel real. Even with a broken heart, life goes on—you have to keep moving,” she explained.
My Stupid Heart marks a deeply personal chapter in Norouzi’s musical journey, offering a sincere exploration of heartbreak through a lens of emotional authenticity.
The single released on May 15 on Elnaaz's official music channel.
Meanwhile, Norouzi is also making waves in Hollywood with her upcoming film Hotel Tehran, where she stars alongside Liam Neeson and Zachary Levi. The film is set to release soon. Reflecting on her experience, she said, “Working with Liam and Zachary was amazing, but I developed a closer bond with Zachary since we’re cast opposite each other. We ended up playing a lot of poker—it became a daily ritual after shoots. He’s a great player, and I’ve grown to really enjoy the game thanks to him.”
