Top 8 firms add Rs. 4.13 lakh crore in market value amid strong weekly rally

Mumbai — Indian equity markets staged a sharp rebound last week, with eight of the country’s top 10 most valued companies collectively adding a massive ?4.13 lakh crore to their market capitalisation.

The rally was largely driven by banking majors like HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank, which emerged as the biggest contributors to the overall gains.

Benchmark indices reflected the bullish momentum. The BSE Sensex surged 4,230.7 points (5.77 per cent), while the Nifty 50 jumped 1,337.5 points (5.88 per cent) over the week.

According to Ajit Mishra of Religare Broking Limited, investor sentiment remained upbeat, supported by optimism around a temporary US-Iran ceasefire. However, lingering geopolitical tensions kept gains in check toward the end of the week. A notable drop in crude oil prices below the $100 mark also helped ease domestic concerns, contributing to a broad-based recovery in equities.

Among the top performers, HDFC Bank led the charge, adding ?91,282.67 crore to reach a market valuation of ?12.47 lakh crore. ICICI Bank followed, with a gain of ?76,036.36 crore, taking its valuation to ?9.46 lakh crore.

Other major gainers included Bajaj Finance, which saw its market value rise by ?60,980.35 crore, and Larsen & Toubro, which added ?47,624.97 crore.

Telecom giant Bharti Airtel also posted strong gains of ?45,873.43 crore, while State Bank of India saw its valuation increase by ?43,614.67 crore.

In the IT sector, Tata Consultancy Services added ?26,303.49 crore, and FMCG major Hindustan Unilever gained ?21,287.29 crore.

On the flip side, Infosys saw its market capitalisation decline by ?3,285.03 crore. Reliance Industries also registered a marginal drop of ?947.28 crore. Despite the dip, Reliance Industries retained its position as India’s most valued company.

It continues to be followed by HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, and Tata Consultancy Services in the list of top-valued firms.
