Govt says over 54 lakh LPG refills delivered in a day; fuel stocks adequate

New Delhi — The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Saturday said more than 54 lakh LPG refills were delivered in a single day, adding that domestic cylinder supply remains normal despite geopolitical disruptions affecting supply chains.

According to the ministry, there were no reports of dry-outs at LPG distributorships, while online bookings rose to 91 per cent across the industry. To curb diversion at the distributor level, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries have been increased from 53 per cent in February 2026 to 84 per cent currently.

The government also said all refineries are operating at high capacity and adequate crude inventories are in place. It added that the country has sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel, and domestic LPG production from refineries has been ramped up to support consumption.

Consumers have been prioritised, with 100 per cent supplies maintained for domestic PNG and CNG transport sectors. Supplies to industrial and commercial users connected to the grid are currently at 80 per cent of their average consumption.

To check hoarding and black marketing, authorities conducted around 2,900 raids across states and Union Territories, seizing more than 1,700 cylinders in a day. Public sector oil marketing companies have also issued over 390 show-cause notices to LPG distributorships so far.

The government noted that all fuel retail outlets are functioning normally across the country and reiterated that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel. It also highlighted that excise duty on petrol and diesel has been reduced by Rs 10 per litre.

Addressing reports of panic buying in some areas, the ministry said rumours had led to unusually high sales and crowding at a few outlets. However, it emphasised that adequate fuel stocks are available nationwide and advised the public not to believe misinformation.
