SAIL Posts 27 Per Cent Sales Growth in November, Retail Sales Surge 69 Per Cent

New Delhi — Public sector steel major Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) reported a robust sales performance in November 2025, registering a year-on-year growth of 27 per cent.

Retail sales volumes jumped sharply by 69 per cent to 0.14 million tonnes in November, compared to 0.084 million tonnes in the same month last year, the company said in a statement.

According to SAIL, the growth was broad-based across product categories and distribution channels, driven primarily by higher domestic saleable steel, increased road dispatches, and door deliveries from warehouses. During the month, SAIL also emerged as the country’s largest seller of TMT bars.

The strong momentum was reflected in cumulative performance for the April–November 2025 period, during which total sales reached 12.7 million tonnes, marking a 14 per cent increase over 11.1 million tonnes recorded in the corresponding period last year.

The company attributed its resilient performance to a robust sales strategy and sustained efforts by its teams in the marketplace, despite challenges such as global price pressures, demand volatility, uncertainties in global trade policies, and ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Retail channel sales during the April–November period rose to 0.97 million tonnes, up 13 per cent from 0.86 million tonnes a year earlier. SAIL noted that the growth was further supported by nationwide brand promotion campaigns.

“These results reflect SAIL’s customer-centric approach, market leadership, and operational excellence in navigating challenging global conditions,” the company said.

Highlighting its contribution to the defence sector, SAIL noted that in October it supplied the entire requirement of special-grade steel for INS Androth, commissioned into the Indian Navy. The company has also supplied the full quantity of special-grade steel, including HR sheets and plates, for eight ASW-SWC vessels — including INS Arnala and Androth — being built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE).
