India’s PC Market Hits Record High in Q3 2025 as Shipments Grow 10%

India’s PC market reached a historic milestone in Q3 2025, posting its highest-ever quarterly shipments at 4.9 million units — a 10.1% year-on-year (YoY) increase, according to IDC data released on Tuesday.

This surpasses the previous record of 4.5 million units shipped in the same quarter last year.

All major PC categories recorded solid growth. Notebook shipments, the largest segment, rose 9.5% YoY, while desktops grew 11.6%. Workstations led the market with a 14.2% surge over last year.

The premium notebook segment (priced above $1,000) delivered an 8.5% YoY growth, reflecting continued demand for high-performance devices across both consumer and enterprise buyers.

AI-enabled notebooks remained the standout performers, with shipments soaring 126.5% YoY. Most of these were entry-level AI models equipped with hardware-accelerated AI features and boosted by deep discounts and cashback schemes. Next-generation AI PCs also gained momentum, crossing one lakh units in quarterly shipments for the first time.

Both commercial and consumer markets contributed significantly to the record numbers.
The commercial segment grew 11.4%, aided by enterprise refresh cycles and increased adoption among small and medium businesses. SMB shipments alone jumped 18.8%, while small office demand grew 13.1%.

The consumer segment posted its best-ever quarter with 2.8 million units shipped, driven by early festive sales and aggressive e-commerce promotions. Online channels achieved their highest shipments yet, nearing one million units.

“Consumer buying behaviour has shifted, with many customers delaying purchases to take advantage of festive discounts,” said Bharath Shenoy, Research Manager, IDC India & South Asia. He noted that reduced Q2 shipments and strategic inventory buildup ahead of Q3 helped vendors meet the multi-phase festive demand spanning late September to early November.
