New Delhi — Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced that its Jimny 5-door SUV has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 1 lakh units in cumulative exports from India.
The Jimny 5-door began its export journey in 2023, shortly after its Indian debut, and has now been shipped to over 100 countries, including Japan, Mexico, and Australia. Its entry into Japan in January 2025 as the “Jimny Nomade” received an overwhelming response, with orders exceeding 50,000 units within days, highlighting the SUV’s appeal in one of the world’s most discerning automobile markets.
Built on a ladder-frame chassis with Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system, the Jimny 5-door is designed for superior off-road performance and stability. Powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, the SUV combines durability, simplicity, and reliable performance, making it popular among drivers navigating rugged terrains as well as quality-conscious global customers.
Commenting on the achievement, Maruti Suzuki MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said,
“The Jimny has over half a century of heritage globally. Crossing the 1 lakh export mark is a proud milestone for Maruti Suzuki. We are deeply thankful to customers worldwide for their trust in this acclaimed SUV.”
He added that the Jimny’s off-road DNA, dependable performance, and uncompromising quality have earned admiration in over 100 countries. The SUV, along with 16 other Maruti Suzuki models, exemplifies the ‘Make in India for the World’ initiative.
Maruti Suzuki’s exports have been on a steady rise, reflecting both customer confidence and India’s growing stature as a hub for world-class automobile manufacturing. The company exported over 2 lakh vehicles in H1 FY 2025-26, marking a 40 per cent growth and its highest-ever half-yearly export volume, following 3.3 lakh exports in FY 2024-25.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki holds over 46 per cent share in India’s passenger vehicle exports, reinforcing its strong and sustained export growth trajectory.
