New Delhi- In a bid to ease ticket booking and manage heavy passenger traffic during the upcoming festive rush, the Ministry of Railways on Saturday announced the introduction of a special ‘Round Trip Package’ offering discounted fares and rebate benefits.
The scheme aims to help passengers secure tickets more conveniently, spread out peak traffic, and ensure better utilisation of trains — including special services — in both directions.
“It has been decided to introduce an experimental scheme called the ‘Round Trip Package’ for the festival rush, offering discounted fares,” the ministry said.
The offer applies to passengers who book both their onward and return journeys for the same group of travellers within a specified period. Passenger details for the return trip must match those of the onward journey.
Bookings for the scheme open on August 14 for travel starting between October 13 and October 26, 2025 (onward journey). Return tickets must be booked through the “connecting journey” feature for travel between November 17 and December 1, 2025.
Key conditions include:
Only confirmed tickets in both directions are eligible.
A 20% rebate will be applied to the base fare of the return journey only.
Travel must be in the same class and on the same origin-destination route for both trips.
No refunds will be issued for tickets booked under the scheme.
Applicable to all classes and trains, including special trains, except those with Flexi fares.
No modifications, additional discounts, travel coupons, vouchers, or passes will be allowed for return bookings.
Tickets can be booked through both online and offline modes, but both onward and return tickets must be purchased using the same method.
