Gram Pradhan who helped police in Kochang Pathalgadi case killed

Khunti: Unidentified gunmen killed the Gram Pradhan of Kochang village Sukhram Munda (52) of Arki block.

Kochang is the same village where the pathalgadi supporters had done gang rape with five girls who were part of a local drama group. Gram pradhan Sukhram Munda was initially a supporter of the pathalgarhi but later he had extended indirect support in building the police Picket in the village.

Khunti SP Alok said that since the incident spot was located in a remote spot, therefore, he has not been able to collect much information. Police sources said that it was very difficult to presently comment on the circumstances which led to his killing or the men who were involved behind this incident.

Last year when Kochang village had shot into LimeLight over the pathalgadi incident Sukhram had actively participated in the function but when a case in this regard was registered he removed himself from the activities of pathalgadi. Despite being in the favour of opening of the police Picket in the village Sukhram could not go against the wishes of his fellow villagers who did not wanted a police picket in the area but he indirectly extended all possible help so that the police picket could be established.

Police said that on the Night of the incident Sukhram Munda was walking near his home when three unidentified bike-borne miscreants opened indiscriminate firing upon him due to which he died on the spot. After executing the crying the criminals easily fled from the village.

Later a police team a right on the spot and seized the body. Sources claimed that since the Assembly elections are coming near therefore once again the pathalgadi supporters have become active in the area and those who are opposing them are being targeted by their supporters or the ultras.
