Major incident at Koderma Thermal Plant, four including project head dead

Koderma: In a major accident which took place on Thursday inside the Koderma Thermal Power Plant located at Banjhedih here four people including the project head and two engineers lost their lives.

The incident took place as a temporary lift fell down late in the afternoon. All of them were employees of Sri Vijaya Company which is a sublet company of Thermax which is involved in plant construction.

The deceased have been identified as project head Krishna Prasad Kodali (42, Andhra Pradesh), Project Officer Binod Chowdhary (50, Nagpur Maharashtra), Engineer Kartik Sagar (30, Andhra Pradesh) and safety officer Naveen Kumar (30, Gaya Bihar).

The men were coming down through the temporary lift after inspecting the under-construction chimney of the plant. The lift was coming down from a height of 90 feet when the wires broke down at the height of 80 meters and all of them directly fell on the ground.

Two of the men died on the spot while two other scummbed to their injuries at the Sadar Hospital. Sri Vijaya company was executing the Chimney construction at the plant. Post the incident senior officials of the company and those from the DVC reached at the Sadar Hospital.
