Latehar: A villager was killed while another one sustained serious injuries after they came into contact with an IED device which was planted by the Maoists on the bordering areas of Lohardaga and Latehar districts.
The deceased has been identified as Etwa Paharia (35) a resident of Nareshgarh village under Sadar Police Station area of this district while the injured has been identified as Suraj Paharia (22).
The injured after being administered first aid at the Sadar Hospital was sent to RIMS Ranchi for treatment.
Police said that the duo had gone in the forest to cut bamboo when they accidentally stepped on the pressure bomb which was planted by the Maoists in Bichbinghi forest to inflict damage on the security forces.
