Statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda damaged: CM orders probe, social organizations call bandh in Ranchi

Ranchi: Taking note of the damage done to the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda located at his ‘Samadhi Sthal’ in Kokar Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has ordered for a probe into the incident and has also directed to take action against the guilty.

Further, he has also asked to immediately undertake the repair of the statue. On Friday morning the news of damage to the statue spread after which a team of district and police administration soon reached on the spot. The local administration has maintained that since last night (Thursday) heavy winds were blowing due to which the statue has been damaged.

The administration also pressed into service police and forensic teams to look for clues if the damage was the work of some anti-social elements. Meanwhile, as the news spread members of social, religious organization along with those from the opposition parties also reached on the spot and inquired into the incident. In the morning Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra too reached on the spot and inquired into the incident. Meanwhile angered over the damage caused to the statue the social organizations have called for a Ranchi bandh on Saturday.
