BJP demands EC action against Hemant Soren for violation of model code of conduct

Ranchi: The Jharkhand BJP has demanded action against JMM’s acting president Hemant Soren for turning up to cast his vote while wearing a scarf carrying a symbol of his party.

Hemant Soren along with his Kalpana Soren had turned up to vote at Saint Francis School at Harmu during the ongoing voting on four Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand. However, during voting he was wearing the scarf and so was his wife. After coming out of the booth

Mr Soren also spoke to the media with the scarf around his neck. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that the acts of Mr Soren is violation of the model code of conduct and demanded the party to take action against him. He said that it is laughable that Mr Soren is pleading ignorance over the issue by claiming that he was not aware of the law. Pratul said that by pleading ignorance he can not escape the law.

He said that Soren has himself served as the Chief Minister of the state and he by wearing the scarf of party symbol tried to campaign inside and outside the polling booth therefore strict the election commission should take note of the incident and initiate action against him.
