Notification issued for sixth phase of polling on 4 Lok Sabha seats on Jharkhand

Ranchi: Notification has been issued for the sixth phase of polling on the four Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand including Giridih, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Singhbhum (ST) after which process of filing of nominations on these seats have commenced. Addressing a press conference state’s chief electoral officer L Khiyangate Tuesday said that with the issue of notification the process of filing of nominations has commenced on these four seats.

He said that the last date of filing of nominations on these four seats is April 23 while scrutiny will take place on April 24 and the candidates can withdraw their names by April 26. Voting on these four seats will be held on May 12.
Mr Khiyangate said that the total number of voters on Giridih seat is 16,27,828 which included 8,67,986 men, 7,59,824 female voters and 18 third gender voters. On Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat the total number of voters was 20,44,802 which included 11,09,541 male, 9,35,234 female and 27 third gender voters.

Similarly, in Jamshedpur, the total number of voters was 16,70,371 which included 8,55,831 male, 8,14,481 female and 59 third gender voters and in Singhbhum the total number of voters was 12,47,639 which consisted
of 6,25,587 male, 6,22,034 female and 18 third gender voters.

Adding further he said that the total number of new voters in the age group of (18-19 years) on these seats jointly stand at 1,00,161. He said that the election commission has completed all the preparations for filing of nominations on these four seats. Mr Khiyangate said that the total number of polling booths on these four seats was 8,300 out of which 2,582 polling booths are located in urban areas and another 5,718 in rural areas.
