Kashmiri displaced will also be able to vote

Ranchi: The Election commission of India has come up with a special plan to ensure that the displaced of Kashmir are able to cast their votes in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019. As part of the initiative, special polling booths have been set up for the displaced of Kashmir who are living in relief camps in Jammu Udhampur and New Delhi.

The displaced can come to this polling booths and through postal ballots can use their voting rights whereas Kashmiri displaced who are living in other areas of the country for them also the election commission has taken steps so that they can cast their votes. Chief Electoral Officer L Khiyangate said for the displaced of Kashmir they would have to fill the M form and 12 C form and have to be physically present before the electoral registration officer. The application would be verified by the ERO along with the address proof and will also be matched with the voter list in Kashmir in which their names have been mentioned. 

The ERO would be responsible to match the details which have been given the form M and 12 C, verification of the local address of the Kashmiri displaced, verification of migrant certificate issued by residential  commissioner, the application of the displaced would be sent to ARO of concerning area in Kashmir and ensure that applications should also consist the mobile numbers and email details and after verification of all the details the applicant would be granted permission to vote at a particular booth or cast their vote through postal ballot.
