Election Commission of India holds meeting with political parties in Jharkhand

Ranchi: A high-level team of election commission of India today held separate meetings with the representatives of the various political parties to assess the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The Congress Party asked the election commission to remove such officials who are posted for the last three in a particular office the Congress leaders said that in panchayats of villages there are between 1700 to 1800 voters whereas the capacity of the EVM machines is just 1500 therefore either the capacity of the Machines should be increased or more than one polling booths should be made the Congress delegation was represented by leader of Legislature wing of the party Alamgir Alam MLA Sukhdeo Bhagat and state spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad. 

The delegation of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha which was represented by Senior MLA Stephen Marandi and party General Secretary Vinod Pandey pointed that permission for holding the meetings during the times of elections is a big problem and suggested that a single Window system should be put into place so that all process of permission is completed from one place and also demanded that the time limit for submitting the election expenditure details should be increased from 30 to 60 days.

Central treasurer of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha KK Poddar and spokesperson Yogendra Pratap Singh India meeting with the commission demanded that the process for obtaining vehicles and process for taking permission for organizing meetings should be simplified whereas the Communist Party of India suggested that Lok Sabha polls in Jharkhand should be held in two to three phases.

The team of the BJP in its interaction with the commission said that the party was ready for Lok Sabha polls and pointed that with the efforts of the Jharkhand government the issue of Naxalism has been controlled to a large extent the party demanded that elaborate security arrangements should be put in place for the polls and bordering areas should be sealed during elections.

The delegation of Rashtriya Janata Dal also made the commission and put forward its suggestions however the Ajsu party did not participate in the meeting. Earlier the team of the election commission led by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora held meetings with the IG Operations CRPF IG and chief electoral officer of the state and inquired into Naxal activities in the state.
