Rath Mela witnesses huge turnout despite rains

Ranchi: Despite the showers, there was tremendous enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the historic Jagannathpur Rath Mela which lasts for nine days. Thousands of people gathered during the Mela which was being organised after a gap of two years. Devotees were seen reaching the main temple complex at 4:00 am.

After offering Bhog to the Lord, the darshan of Lord Jagannath became accessible to all from 5:00 am. Women and men were standing in separate rows to see the deity of Lord Jagannath, brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.

The whole temple complex was resonating with the chants of Lord Jagannath. The chariot was decorated under the main temple With the Rath Yatra Lord Jagannath has left for Mausibari with his brother Balabhadra, sister Subhadra. Thousands of people had reached to get the darshan of Lord Jagannath from remote areas of Jharkhand.

In wake of the crowd, there was a special arrangement of police force near Shaheed Maidan. From there the devotees had to walk toward the main temple on foot. Despite the roundabout way from Panchmukhi Hanuman temple, a large number of people went towards the main temple.

People are seen enjoying the fair after having a darshan of God in the main temple. Small children and young elders are seen enjoying the fair. On the hills of the main temple, the traditional weapons of Jharkhand, arrow, bow, sword, bala, spear etc were being sold. There was also a rush of people to buy fishing nets.
