MoU signed for expansion of Birsa Munda Airport

Ranchi: Under the Birsa Munda Airport Expansion Project, the MoU was signed between the Government of Jharkhand and the Airport Authority of India.

Under this MoU, a total of 303.62 acres of land will be transferred by the state government in favor of the Airports Authority of India, out of which 301.12 acres will be transferred in the first phase.

The 301.12 acres of land to be transferred immediately has been acquired by the state government. Out of this, 273.78 acres of land will be made available on lease for 30 years at the rate of Rs 1.00 per annum. The remaining 27.34 acres of land will be provided free of cost on the basis of ownership to replace it with 2731 acres of land of the army.

On this land, the Airport Authority of India will construct a new terminal building, isolation bay, control tower, fire station, etc. The necessary navigational aids, visual aids and ground lighting facilities will be upgraded for the operation of wide-body aircraft.

Also, 259 acres of land will be made available on lease by AAI to the state government for the construction of the state government’s air base. Deputy Secretary, Civil Aviation Division, Akhilesh Kumar Sinha, on behalf of the State Government and Airport Director, Birsa Munda Airport KL Agrawal on behalf of the Airports Authority of India signed the MoU.
