Dhanbad: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that in 4,400 panchayats sports grounds would be constructed and next year
the sports at the panchayat level will also be organised on a grand scale so that the players from the rural areas are able to show their skills and training is provided to them to further enhance their skills.
Addressing at the concluding ceremony of the national convention of Krida Bharat organised at Nawadih here he said through Khelo India initiative the Prime Minister has provided a platform to the players to show their skills which is aimed at encouraging the sports among the school children to up to the university level. He said that there was no dearth of sports talent in the state and many steps have been taken in this area including the establishment of Kamal clubs at block and district level while through the sports academy 400 children are being trained.
The Chief Minister also announced a sum of Rs 3 lakh for Pramod Patel and Garima Chowdhary who had come to perform yoga from Madhya Pradesh and said that the big programme organised by Akhil Bhartiya Krida Sangh would help to further promote sports in the state. He said that in Jharkhand in the rural areas the football competition is being organised at panchayat level block level and district and the state level in which 1.36 lakh footballers participated which included 31,998 girls. He said that this year in Jharkhand in hockey football archery and Wushu national level school games are being organised in which the Wushu competition would be held from January 10-13. He said that several residential and day boarding schools are also functional in the state.
Mr Das also announced that the Nawadih Stadium would be renovated with an investment of Rs 4 crore and in the stat center for excellence in archery, football hockey and athletics would be opened in which children in the age group 16- 22 years would be trained and in every excellence there would be 32 players each and
they would be set up in Ranchi and Deoghar. He said that the state government is providing direct jobs to players bagging international medals while on the other had or players at the state level they are being provided scholarships and honorary funds and this year 406 such layers were felicitated.
