Chatra: An adult elephant died following electrocution in Piparwar of this district.
Sleuths of the forest department said that for the last 6 days a group of 22 elephants had been creating havoc in different villages of Piparwar Police Station area.
On Friday the teams from the forest department of Ranchi and Chatra joined hands to somehow divide the group and make them flee from the area. Though the forest department with the help of villagers managed to break the group into two on Saturday morning body of an elephant was found.
As the news spread large crowd of people gathered on the spot. The forest department team performed the postmortem of the tusker in which it emerged that the animal had died due to electrocution. Later the animal was buried.
