Chatra police arrests two for scribe’s killing

Chatra (By our correspondent): The Chatra Police claimed to have cracked the murder case of a local journalist within 48 hours of his murder and has arrested two persons who were involved in the killing.

Addressing a press conference here today Chatra SP Akhilesh P Beriyer said that the deceased Chandan Tiwari was killed after he had brought in open the irregularities committed in the construction of a pond in the area by a contractor after which the brother of the contractor Pintu Singh along with his two other associates killed the man.

The SP said that the main conspirator of the murder Pintu Singh is also associated with a Maoist outfit and has served a prison
term on previous occasions. He said that the arrested have been identified as Jamuna Prasad and Musafir Rana while raids were on
arrested Pintu Singh.

The SP said that on the day of the incident these men made Chandan Tiwari forcibly consume liquor and later abducted him. He was badly beaten by the trio and left at Baltharwa Forest under Simaria Police Station where he died due to his wound injuries. Mr Beriyer said that the members of the SIT who have helped cracked the case will be awarded.
