Ranchi: Chief Secretary D K Tiwari reviewed the functioning of various departments at the project building here including tourism, arts and culture and rural works department during which he directed to work so that the state emerges as the cultural capital in the country.
He said that the tribal traditions culture and dance is part of the lifestyle of the people and directed the department to work to organize a five-day musical festival in January in which apart from tribal dance, classical and modern dance forms will take place.
He said that a committee should be formed to organize the programme in which the help of a Bollywood celebrity or youth icon of the state can be taken.
He said that Jharkhand was a natural tourism destination and asked the department to complete the projects on time and also instructed to publish a booklet on Jharkhand tourism which should be made available at all the places including hotels, railway stations, airports and also dhould be given to the state guests.
The Chief Secretary said that the operation of the stadiums at the block level should be given to the interested sports committees and they should be also paid a grant for its upkeep. He asked the department to prepare a database of its assets and asked to involve the sports associations with the stadiums.
He said that more kits should be purchased and focus should be on to keep efficient coaches who should be also given honorarium as per their capabilities and suggested that coaches should be also sent to the best coaching centers and asked the department to prepare a sports calendar.
On the functioning of the rural works department, he asked them to accord importance to the construction of bridges and culverts and develop quality control mechanism. He asked to maintain the quality of the bridges.
Mr Tiwari asked to identify those who are not able to complete work on time and action should be taken. He said that no performing employees should be given compulsory retirement.
