Ranchi: The election commission will be keeping an eye on the movement of the vehicles to be used for EVM movement through GPS tracking.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sailesh Kumar Chourasia while addressing a training program for the district information officers said that the GPS will be fitted in the vehicle of the sector magistrate who will be made responsible for transportation of the vehicle.
He said that the tracking will be maintained right from the time to the movement of the EVM to the booths and thereafter back and if needed tracking of reserve EVM will also be done.
In the training program, the district information officers were given training as to how they can keep an eye on the movement of the vehicles which will be watched through the app.
It was informed that immediate information will be available if the vehicle of the sector magistrate is diverted from its root.
In all the districts control rooms will be also set up for GPS tracking. Through the mobile-based GPS tracking the one would be able to monitor the exact location of the sector magistrate, speed of the vehicle, the battery of the phone being used.
The sector magistrates have been also instructed not to keep their mobile phones switched off.
