Niti Aayog lauds work of state government on education and health sector

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that his government was committed for the development of 3.25 crore people of the state and was making continuous efforts so that the people can have access to better healthcare facilities education and basic infrastructure. In a meeting which was held at the project building here with the state government and the Niti Aayog Mr Das said that his government was implementing the schemes in a time bound manner and its results were now also visible. He said that in social sectors such as in education improvement has been made in Jharkhand and in the days to come further improvement would be made similarly in the area of health also the state government has been continuously performing better and said that it was his target to ensure that in these sectors the state ranks among the top performing other states of the country.

The Chief Minister said that the Niti Aayog and the state government were working together and doing a good job and in the time to come this cooperation will continue to be maintained. He said that the Aayog was understanding the aspirations of the state and was also cooperating so that the state can improve upon its drawbacks and it is due to this that not only ranking of the state is improving but in many areas Jharkhand is a top performing state. He directed that to ensure success of nutrition mission Poshan Sakhis have been appointed and said that any negligence in this area will not be tolerated. Addressing the press after the end of the meeting vice chairman of the Niti Aayog Dr Rajiv Kumar said that during the day review was done on many important issues. He said that in the meeting stress was accorded as to how the central and state government can sort out their problems and how can the Niti Aayog play its better role.

The Aayog lauded the performance of the state in the education sector and also appreciated the works which have been undertaken to check child marriages and malnutrition etc. During the meeting the state government under the Bharatmala project sought the help of the Niti Aayog to build a 790 kilometres of four lane road connecting Sahibganj of Jharkhand to Jamshedpur-Dhanbad and Dhamra Port while from the Campa fund a proposal to link the Damodar and Swarnarekha rivers was also put forward by the state government.

In the meeting discussion was also held to speed up works in rehabilitation in Jharia during which it was agreed that meeting would be held between the union coal ministry and Niti Aayog in which the Chief Minister of the state would be participating and issues related to rehabilitation works in Jharia would be sorted out. Dr Rajeev Kumar said that in Jharkhand better work has been done in the sector of education and also lauded the initiative of the state for providing skill development training to 10 lakh women. Expressing his satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting is said that a coordination would be established with the state government and every year on two occasions meeting with the Aayog would be organised. Chief Secretary DK Tiwari said that the meeting with the Niti Aayog went very well and pointed that on regular basis the state government gets the guidance of the Aayog. He said that the body has appreciated the works done in the education sector and accepted the quality improvement has been made in the education sector of the state.

He said that the state government was making an effort to link Sahibganj with other major towns including Dhanbad-Jamshedpur- Dhamra Port under the Bharatmala project. He said that among the other issue a proposal to set up a tool room in Bokaro was also discussed while a request was made to use CAMPA fund for cleaning works at Damodar and Swarnrekha rivers. He said that in the days to come more focus will be improvement in health and education sector and pointed that impact on quality education post school mergers is being done by IIM Ranchi. Mr Tiwari said that construction of Dhobas for water conservation was also a bright idea.

Those who were also present on the occasion included Additional Chief Secretary cum Development Commissioner Sukhdeo Singh, Additional Chief Secretary K K Khandelwal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Suni Barnwal, Principal Secretaries/ secretaries of the various government departments alongwith CCL chairman Gopal Singh.
