NIA Constitutes Special 10-Member Team to Probe Delhi Blast Near Red Fort

New Delhi — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has set up a special 10-member team to investigate the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, officials said on Wednesday.

The team will be headed by NIA Additional Director General Vijay Sakhare and will include an Inspector General (IG), two Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), three Superintendents of Police (SPs), and the remaining as Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), sources confirmed.

The formation of this high-level team follows the Union Home Ministry’s decision on Tuesday to formally transfer the Delhi blast probe to the NIA.

The explosion occurred on the evening of November 10, when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station detonated, killing at least eight people and leaving dozens injured.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the ongoing investigation and the multi-state search operations on Tuesday, reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice swiftly.

Chairing a high-level meeting at his residence with senior security officials, Shah instructed agencies to “get to the bottom of the conspiracy at the earliest.”

Investigative agencies are currently analysing over 1,000 CCTV clips as part of the probe. Preliminary findings suggest that the explosion may have been a suicide attack, aimed at causing maximum casualties, according to Delhi Police sources.

Authorities are also monitoring social media channels and collecting mobile phone dump data from multiple locations across Delhi to track potential suspects. The data retrieval from all mobile devices active near the Red Fort area at the time of the blast may help identify communication networks linked to the attack.

Amit Shah has directed the NIA, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Delhi Police Special Cell to work in close coordination, asserting that “no stone will be left unturned” in uncovering the plot.

Meanwhile, high alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with security tightened around crowded areas, transport hubs, and religious sites to prevent any further incidents.
