Ranchi: Describing terrorism and extremism as one of the biggest challenges for the development of the state and the country Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu lauded Jharkhand government for taking a good political initiative by linking security measures to development.
In her address which was amid drizzle and foggy weather conditions on the occasion of the nation’s 70th Republic Day at the historic Morabadi grounds here she said that the state government has taken many steps to counter left-wing extremism
in the state. She said that on a priority basis roads are being constructed in the Maoist hit areas in which corporation of the local people is also being received and added that due to the positive initiative of the state government and cooperation of the locals huge
success has been received in fight against extremism in the state and number of Maoists related incidents have also declined in Jharkhand.
She said that it was due to the efforts of the state government that the number of LWE districts have declined from 21
to 19 while severly hit districts numbers has declined from 16 to 13. The Governor urged the youth who had diverted from the mainstream of life to leave the path of violence and contribute in the development process of the state and the country as violence cannot provide a solution to any problem.
She said that she was also extremely proud of the fact that the contribution of Jharkhand in the development of the nation is also continuously increasing. Ms. Murmu said that to ensure the all round development of the state and fulfill the aspirations of the people the state government was working with dedication so that state can become prosperous and developed. She said that issues related to the welfare of the people and providing clean and sensitive administration, people’s participation, cleanliness, corruption-eradication, easy transportation, power, irrigation, agriculture, education, health and women empowerment is the priority for the state government.
The Governor said that the state government has taken many effective steps to remove corruption from the state and for the corporation of the people who have been hit by corruption The Vigilance Bureau was reconstituted as anti-corruption bureau who is regional offices was set up in Hazaribagh Jamshedpur Dumka and Palamu apart from Ranchi where people can register their FIR in cases of corruption and bribery.
The Governor said that Jharkhand was agriculture dominated state and the majority of the population was dependent on agriculture animal husbandry fisheries and other agriculture allied activities therefore well being of agriculture and the farmers were among the topmost priorities for the state government and to encourage agriculture in all the districts under Horticulture development programme on 772 acres of area cultivation of fruits and flowers and vegetables was being carried out and 290 units of sapling production was set up on private farming land.
The Governor said that agriculture in the state was mostly dependent on monsoon rains therefore to increase the income of the farmers the government was making efforts to increase irrigation facilities in the state and pointed that in this fiscal year a total of 616 minor irrigation projects are being executed out of which 405 have been completed which was helping in additional irrigation 41,889 hecatres of land.
