Ranchi: Amid slogan shouting the MLAs of the opposition who had walked into the well of the house the Jharkhand Assembly during the post-lunch session passed the second supplementary budget worth Rs 1117.12 crore for fiscal ending March 31, 2018.
After the house assembled in the second half of the day the MLAs of the JMM raised the issue of the para teachers and demanding an announcement that the para teachers will be made permanent stormed into the well of the house over which speaker Dinesh Oraon said that it would be inappropriate to make any announcement over the issue without having any proper debate. Attacking the JMM Agriculture Minister Randhir Singh sought to know that Mr Soren in his stint as the Chief Minister did not make the para teachers
permanent.
BJP MLA Radha Krishna Kishore said that if the opposition really cared for the para teachers it should have participated in the debate during call attention motion however it was only raising the issue as it wanted to make the para teachers their party cadres. He said that opposition was just doing politics in their name and had no intentions to solve their problems.
Pradeep Yadav of the JVM said that he was ready to take his cut motion back on the second supplementary budget if the state government makes an announcement in the house that para teachers would be made permanent. He demanded that the state government also give a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the kin of para teachers who have lost their lives, take back the cases which are registered against them and Chief Minister should himself hold talks with them as then only a positive outcome be achieved.
Intervening in between Urban Development Minister C P Singh alleged that both Hemant Soren and Pradeep Yadav have asked the government not to make the para teachers permanent as they would not be able to do their politics in their name. His remarks drew sharp criticism from the opposition members who once again indulged in slogan shouting. Amid the uproar, the houses passed the second supplementary budget along with three other legislation after which Speaker Dinesh Oroan adjourned the house till 1100HRS Wednesday.
