Ranchi: The festival of Christmas which is celebrated to mark the birth of Jesus Christ was celebrated across the state with enthusiasm and gaiety.
At all the prominent churches of the state including those in the state capital Ranchi, Gumla, Khunti, Lohardaga, Jamshedpur,
Chaibasa, Bokaro, Dumka and Pakur mid-night mass was organised where a large number of people including young and old turned up to celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus.
Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das also extended their greetings to the people on the occasion.
The joy of Christmas did not remain confined to the homes and the areas dominated by the Christain community but it was visible all across the state capital with people cutting across all sections and communities turning up enjoy the festival.
Not only the churches and cathedrals were decorated the people also lighten up their homes and localities as part of the celebrations.
Today in the morning a huge crowd of people was witnessed at main churches of the capital including St Mary’s and ST Paul’s where children young and old dressed in their new clothing’s gathered to offer their prayers and later indulged in festivities. Since the day was a public holiday a huge rush was also witnessed at all the major picnic and tourist spots of the state where people had gathered to organise family picnic with their near and dear ones.
